Referral Programs for Employees
Engage your employees through a referral program for driving sales and upsells.
Overview
Encourage employees, agents, property managers, salespeople and other defined audiences to drive sales of specific products or services through personalized links, QR codes or emails.
Target Your Employees
It is completely up to you and your team to determine who is eligible to participate in the program. Using Extole Audiences, you can easily set up your program so that it is only accessible to a specific group.
Extole Audiences allow you to add and remove members both individually and in bulk. If you want to update your audience at a regular cadence, we can also set up an automated SFTP workflow for replacing your audience daily, weekly, monthly, and so on.
Marketing
When your program is designed for a specific audience, we recommend directly promoting the program using Extole's Email Audience feature.
Extole programs have highly customizable email templates that allow you to create a branded Welcome Email. This email will invite your employees/audience to the program and include all of the information they need to participate. You can design the email within the Campaign Editor of our platform and then send it out to your eligible employees via your My Audiences page. Emails can also be customized to fit your existing branding or style guide.
Programs can also be marketed utilizing personalized QR codes as part of email signatures, internal employee dashboards, direct mailers or flyers. Each QR code will attribute new customer acquisition back to the individual who promoted the product or service.
Employee Journey
Once your employees receive the Welcome Email, they can open it and click on the CTA that directs them to the Share Experience—another piece of your program that you can customize in our Campaign Editor. The Share Experience allows your employees to verify their identity, if required, and receive their personal share link, code, or QR code.
Your employees can then share their personal link or code with their customers in person or via email, SMS, or any social channel to start referring.
Custom Shareables
Whether you want to generate share links, codes, or QR codes for your participating employees, we can customize them to fit your needs.
Customer Journey
Customers referred by an employee can use the employee's share link or code to go on to purchase the product, upgrade their subscription, or sign up for an additional service. The use for the link or code will tie the outcome back to the employee who referred them.
Rules and Rewarding
Once the referred customer completes the desired outcome of your program, your employee will be rewarded. Your company can provide Extole with coupons, configure gift cards with one of our partner providers, set up direct deposits or even callback to your existing employee reward system via API, file or Webhooks. with point values. Extole will track your employees' referrals or sales, and can administer the rewards once earned.
Tiered Rewards
Rewards for your employees can also be tiered to drive further engagement or a series of actions. The successful sale of specific products or subscriptions can result in different rewards, or the number of referrals can result in different rewards.
For example, if you're running a referral program for your sales reps, you could set up reward tiers that correspond to the size or impact of their deals.
Performance and Data
Data is the heart of your referral program. It can give you insight into your top performing employees and your overall customer base. Extole program dashboards and reporting can help you make data-driven decisions to create new or improve existing marketing initiatives for your company.
Two key metrics that indicate the health of your funnel and success of your referral program are acquisition rate and participation rate.
Acquisition Rate
The acquisition rate measures the effectiveness of a program; in other words, what is the likelihood that and individual will lead to a new customer conversion? This rate is calculated by dividing the number of conversions by the number of advocates.
Participation Rate
The participation rate measures approximately the percentage of your employees (or additional audience) participating in your program. A strong participation rate indicates the effectiveness of a program to engage advocates. Your participation rate is most often a result of your promotional strategy.
These basic performance metrics, as well as impact metrics an quality metrics, are reflected in your dashboards and can be pulled from your program using Extole's reporting capabilities.
Examples
Lumen
Lumen, a telecom powerhouse, runs several employee programs that cater to different aspects of their business. The Score! program, for example, enables employees to earn unlimited rewards for successfully referring their home internet installation service. Meanwhile, their Connected Communities program is specifically designed for property managers, movers, tenants and residents working in areas where homes are eligible for Quantum Fiber internet.
Paylocity
Paylocity, an HR and payroll software company, use Extole to encourage their sales reps to refer Paylocity to clients. All employees are welcome to participate and receive a personal QR code upon filling out the form in the Share Experience pictured below. Once they successfully refer a client, a lead gets created for that Salesperson within their CRM system and any new customers that sign up result in an employee earning gift card rewards based on the size of the business—the larger the business, the larger the reward.
