Overview
Pausing a campaign pauses its promotion: no new advocates or shares are generated for that campaign. If a share is already out there — in a friend’s inbox or posted to a blog — and the friend clicks that link, the friend still receives the landing experience and reward for the paused campaign. If that conversion is approved, the advocate is rewarded with the reward from the paused campaign too. If an advocate clicks a promotion link or call-to-action to share again, the advocate is redirected to the live campaign. They become an advocate there, and their shares link to the live campaign. So by pausing, you prevent new top-of-funnel traffic while conversions still come in and rewards still go out from the paused campaign.Example
Lindsey shares from the 10 campaign to Jordan. The next day, that campaign is paused and a 10 reward pop-up, as his email said. He converts, and Lindsey gets $10, as she expected. Lindsey returns the next day to share with Matt. Lindsey now sees the 20 with Matt. How to Handle Changes
- For creative changes that are not reward changes, burst your new campaign and end the old one. This moves everyone onto the new campaign immediately. See How to Run a Burst.
- For reward changes, use an overlap period by pausing the old campaign. See Pausing, Ending, and Scheduling Campaigns.
