Overview

The People Who Took a Specific Action report returns a list of participants who completed a specific activity — for example, opened an account — with unique counts for that activity. The event filter defaults to transacted. Change it to the step_name that matches the action you want to list.
To pull a list of participants who completed an action (such as converted, opened an account, or started a free trial) that matches the dashboard, see the Events report.

Configuration

Filters

Besides the event, the report offers these filters:
  • Time Range: Defaults to Last Day. This is the range of data in the report. Learn about the ranges you can use in Using My Timeline Dates.
  • Quality: Defaults to All. This indicates the quality of the event. You can filter by events of all quality, only high quality, only low quality, or no quality.
  • Program Label and Campaign Id: Optional. Limit the report to one program or campaign.
  • Visit Type (under Advanced): Defaults to All. This indicates the type of visit the person made. Filter by people you have seen for the first time (New To Client), who visited the program for the first time (New To Program), or who visited the campaign for the first time (New To Campaign).
  • Container (under Advanced): Defaults to your production container. You can instead run the report for only people in your test container.
  • Unattributed Events (under Advanced): Defaults to off. Toggle it on to see events that have not been attributed to Extole. For example, with conversions and this toggle off, you see only conversions attributed to Extole activity; with it on, you see all conversions you pass to Extole.

Event Names (step_name)

The report’s event field takes the step_name values listed below. An event typically has an actor (a friend or an advocate) and an action.

Questions You Can Answer

Use these step_name values for common scenarios.

Advocate Funnel

  • Advocates who viewed a promotion (a global header, global footer, overlay, confirmation pop-up, or mobile notification): promotion_viewed
  • Advocates who opened a promotion email (a welcome email, mail after purchase email, stats email, or reward email): promotion_email_opened
  • Advocates who clicked a promotion: promotion_clicked
  • Advocates who viewed a share experience (the share experience, a referral page, or a landing page): advocate_viewed
  • Advocates who shared: shared

Friend Funnel

  • Friends who viewed a share (opened a share email or a reminder email): share_viewed
  • Friends who clicked a share: share_clicked
  • Friends who viewed a friend landing experience: friend_viewed
  • Friends who registered: registered
  • Friends who converted: converted
Reward emails go to both advocates and friends. Because they contain calls-to-action, they count as promotion emails and promotion experiences. If your program uses email capture, it counts in the registered event.
